Sustainability
Mainstreet is committed to sustainability, and we believe that one of the best ways to practice that is by making it easier for our residents to reduce their carbon footprint at home. Mainstreet takes a holistic approach to sustainable living, believing that it should be something you can continue whether you're at home or not.
For this reason, Mainstreet begins by placing our properties into "clusters": central areas often along bike paths; with ready access to electric scooters; nearby access to transit; and high walkability; enabling people to live their day-to-day lives car-free.
We integrate progressive and environmentally-conscious design into our retrofits, from the invisible: high quality insulation and building materials which reduce energy consumption; energy-efficient windows which allow for lots of natural light; the locations of these properties also mean the company has a greatly reduced carbon footprint by drastically reducing travel times between buildings and building sites.
Mainstreet also loves the Telus SmartHome technology we've slowly started introducing into our buildings. Not just making life more convenient, but also more ecologically friendly. Offering people the chance to control their climate, locks, lights, and more from their smartphone wherever they might be. No need to leave the A/C on all day if you can start it up 30 minutes before getting home!
Lastly, to help foster our residents’ financial sustainability we’ve partnered with Zenbase to offer flexible rent payments that enable easier budgeting and decreased financial stress on the first of the month.
We're about sustainability because our customers are about sustainability and so is our common future.
