The new Ice District In Edmonton has been getting all of the attention recently, but just two minutes West is a great urban living experience that is already well established. One of the oldest, most walkable neighbourhoods in Edmonton, The Oliver Area and 124th Street (which even has its own website) strip make up a mature, developed area with an endless amount of amenities right out the front door. Avenue Magazine named the area third on the list for top neighbourhoods in Edmonton for 2015 and it’s easy to see why.
There are pristine views and access to the river valley in the South, the Oliver arena and pool on 119th St. and Western Cycle on 104th Ave. if active living is your thing. And the 124th St. art district has countless little shops and galleries that fill the niche for those more artistically inclined.
Nestled among these streets are many of Edmonton’s best restaurants and bars. World renown Duchess Bakery can rarely be found without a line out the door for their delectable baked goods. Daravara is ranked as one of the best new restaurants of 2015 and their burger is definitely worth a stop. Rge Rd. is regularly ranked in the top 3 restaurants in the city and there are countless other deserving restaurants and bars nearby.
Oliver Square and the soon to be completed Brewery District along 104th Avenue offer a wealth of other retail options including grocery stories, pharmacies and anything else you could want. For students, MacEwan University is just a couple blocks East and the #130 bus travels south on 116th St. – a 10 minute straight shot to the U of A campus.
Mainstreet has 18 different buildings in this area of Edmonton, with bachelors all the way up to three bedroom apartments, situated amongst this area with plenty of options to choose from if you’re lucky enough to find a vacant unit in this hot spot of town.
