An issue that every landlord must deal with is pest control.

At Mainstreet Equity Corp. we are committed to providing clean, safe and comfortable accommodations for our tenants. As part of that mandate, we have issued a new Pest Management System to detect any kind of pests at an early stage. This program has launched in Edmonton, AB.

Detecting, eradicating and preventing pests in our properties depends on a number of factors:

  • Education of all tenants and property management
  • An effective pest control and treatment program
  • Complete cooperation between tenants, property management and pest control services
  • Early detection of the presence of any pests
  • We have created an education handbook as part of this program. Ask your Property Manager for a copy, now!"It takes all of us to send these guys packing!

The education handbook consists of all the information a tenant needs, including:

  • How to identify pests?
  • How to prevent and control infestations?
  • How to prepare for a pest control treatment?

Mainstreet Pest Control Program is a five part system.

  • Routine inspections by Property Management.

Tenants will receive advanced notice of these regularly scheduled preventive inspections.

  • URGENT – TREATMENT PENDING

An "urgent" notice will be issued to any tenant whose unit has been detected as infected. The notice will advise the tenant of the dates of the upcoming mandatory pre-treatment inspections and chemical treatment day.

  • 48 HOUR PRE-TREATMENT CHECKLIST

The 48-hour checklist provides tenants with an easy to follow list of tasks which MUST be completed 48 hours prior to the scheduled chemical treatment day identified on the "urgent" notice.

The tenant must check off each item as it is completed. The Property Manager or Pest Control Technician will visit your unit (on the pre-treatment inspection day identified on the "urgent" notice. They will confirm if all necessary tasks have been completed.

  • TREATMENT DAY CHECKLIST

The "Treatment Day Checklist" identifies all of the final steps a tenant MUST complete on the morning of their scheduled chemical treatment day. Again, the Property Manager or Pest Control Technician will be in attendance on that day to ensure that the final preparations have been adequately completed.

  • FOLLOW UP INSPECTION NOTICE

A follow-up inspection (and re-treatment if required) will be performed approximately 10-14 days after the initial treatment. The follow-up treatment is needed to ensure newly hatched insects are exposed to the pesticide treatment. After the treatment, the tenant will be issued with a follow-up notice to advise a date that their unit will be re-inspected and potentially, re-treated to eliminate any kind of pests.
