It was July 2013 when I joined Mainstreet Equity Corp.
Being a cleaner, gave me the opportunity to be independent; and by providing hardwork it allowed me to support my daughter.
I was very excited to have my first full time job in Canada.
Time passed quickly. After a couple months, everything was more than just work for me. I had learned many things and was already looking for a chance to become more valuable in the company. I was ready to do more. I was ready to help make things better, learn new methods, procedures and develop a career.

My goal was always to become a good Resident Manager. When the opportunity was finally given to me, I was eager to prove myself, show my abilities and to successfully complete the work, and to go further by generating new ideas to make things better.
As a Resident Manager
While working with Mainstreet, I have been able to analyze and interpret the differences between theoretical and practical management. I have also been able to further improve my skill set while working at the management level.
I always had the tendency to heavily favour skills to which I excel, neglecting the idea to focus on skills that need improvement; but this new position has allowed me to understand that error in thinking and to focus on the necessary skills a manager needs. I now understand the importance of gathering feedback from tenants, listening, implementing and finding reliable solutions – even when these things took me out of my comfort zone.
Since I started, our team has become more effective in aspects that are important in the corporate world today. I believe we all look forward to building a positive perspective, in order to gain visibility and develop influential connections.
“Graduating from a well-regarded degree program, having a MBA or many years of experience, is not the answer to executing effectively. Teamwork, leadership, appreciation, understanding and taking care of your employees are all fundamental skills to properly manage a work place”.
I am proud of my accomplishments and always look to improve myself. And I am especially proud of my team, that works as a team, and always strives to give our customers the best experience possible when living at a Mainstreet apartment.
