Healthy body, healthy mind.

I spent the last 8 months changing my attitude towards my life and my body. I lost 50 pounds and managed to gain 20 pounds of lean muscle. With the mental demands of being a Regional Property Manager at Mainstreet Equity Corp., I never could have imagined the type of benefits having a healthy body would have on both my life and my career.

My weekly regime is full but totally enjoyable and worthwhile. Twice a week I get up at 4:30 am and jog for 30 minutes. I then get to the office early on those days. Dance class Monday nights, game on Tuesday, Wednesday night running classes, Thursday night spin class; and finally, strength training a minimum of 3 times a week. Sundays are for meal planning. Precooked meals, prepackaged snacks. Measuring and calculating the types of foods, calorie intake, amounts of lean proteins. I eat every 2 hours, limited sugars and no alcohol. I often wonder, 'did I eat enough for an hour of weight training?'

It sounds like a full-time job. While I was in my peak of weight loss, this was just an average week. Not to mention a full days' work and a social life in-between. An hour or two of each day was dedicated to my fitness regime. As a result, I slept consistently, was relaxed when I came to work. My life changes have left me more focused, confident and successful. Nothing has ever been as good at relieving or preventing stress than exercise has been.I've tried pretty much every fad diet for years to accomplish what I accomplished this year. The truth is, the only way you can achieve these results is by working hard. If you want something bad enough, you have to be willing to work for it. But never allow yourself to feel guilty if you eat a plate of fries, or skip your work out to have coffee with an old friend. It is counter-productive. Set goals and accomplish them; and most importantly, do not lie to yourself. If you want to dedicate yourself to something but will always 'do it tomorrow' the only person who hurts from it, is you.

I have worked hard to become my own success story, and I am still writing it.
