May 29, 1998 - Mainstreet Equity Corp. began trading on the Alberta Stock Exchange (ASE) under the symbol MEQ. Mainstreet listed for trading on the ASE as a Junior Capital Pool Company and fulfilled its regulatory requirements by acquiring 620118 Alberta Ltd. as its' Major Transaction on December 7, 1998.
Mainstreet's initial acquisition (620118 Alberta Ltd.) was 10 multi-family residential buildings containing 271 units located in Calgary, Alberta. The next acquisition for Mainstreet was the amalgamation with 396249 Alberta Ltd. on April 1, 1999. 396249 Alberta Ltd. owned 18 multi-family residential buildings containing 380 units located in Calgary and Edmonton, Alberta.
Mainstreet began trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange (Symbol: MEQ) May 31, 2000. As of November 11, 2011, Mainstreet Equity Corp. owns and manages 7,687 residential units diversified throughout Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Surrey, Abbotsford and the Greater Toronto Area.
